Classroom Visit Experience
Overview:
What does booking an experience with IDEA Labs mean? 2+2! 2 Hours of Co-Thinking + 2 Hours of Engagement = $200 for a Classroom Visit Before visiting the classroom, we want to collaborate and co-think with YOU as the teacher! With two hours of co-thinking classroom topics you plan on covering, our Innovative Educators will be able to ensure that the students' learning will be cohesive. An IDEA Labs classroom visit will include two hours to cover the topics, and standards talked about in the co-thinking session; but will be brought to life with our creative hands-on learning experiences. Innovative Educators will educate, challenge, and create with students with a “maker mindset.” IDEA Labs is being offered to K-12th grade classrooms in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area. Students will remember their experience with IDEA Labs for a long time, and it’s hoped that the exposure to science in an untraditional way will encourage them to pursue STEM learning and possibly career path. Our innovative, hands-on programs excite students, and bring the world of science alive. Enhancing interest and knowledge in the exploration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics is critical in today’s world, and there is no better way to do it than to directly engage students in hands-on activities. |
Our Goal for I.D.E.A. Labs
The purpose of creating IDEA Labs was to inspire an interest in science, technology, design and 21st century skills for all makers in our community. By creating a more accessible way for teachers to access outside inspiration from STEM professionals allows for students in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene community to learn through direct experimentation and from each other. IDEA Labs is here to inspire lifelong learning, support classroom educators and to equip students with the tools for a better future.
Our team of Innovative Educators meets with individual classrooms in one or more grades to take them through the scientific method, guide students through a lesson and finish with an eye-popping experiment or classroom challenge. As each classroom is turned into an IDEA Lab, students will gain a better understanding of the engineering design process, implement 21st century skills, and relate findings to the real world!
Idea Labs provides all supplies, curriculum, safety and clean-up materials as well as an “Innovative Outline” for each student to refer back to in the classroom, or to take home and share with their families. The “Innovative Outline” explains what the student learned with IDEA Labs, connects to state standards, and defines some of the vocabulary used as well as the concepts taught. It also provides links and other suggestions for extended learning opportunities which parents or guardians can do with their students at Gizmo. Gizmo Makerspace strongly believes that learning doesn’t end in the classroom and encourages engaging and creative opportunities for students to learn
