Gizmo provides professional development for educators in a variety of formats and topics. In the 2019 - 2020 school year Gizmo is developing and delivering professional development in: Design Thinking, Project Based Learning & Assessment, and Maker Education. We're embracing the challenges of the COVID pandemic and creating new courses to support educators working to provide transformative learning experiences for their students in online, blended and in-person formats.

Course Title Rethinking Assessment Course Description Assessment is challenging under normal circumstances, and is even more so now with school closures and new remote learning opportunities. Collaborate with Erin and Matt, Gizmo’s Innovative Educators, as we demystify assessment and build structures together that work for your learning environment. Intended Audience This course is designed to help Pre-K through college educators & parents who find themselves COVIDschooling 🏡 🎓 Course Format & Details 100% online & remote. 3 Hours: 1 hour opening workshop, 1 hour homework, 1 hour closing workshop. We space the workshops a few days apart to give participants time to think and apply what they're learning. Credit/Clock Hours Gizmo has partnered with Coeur d'Alene School District to offer a certificate of completion for participants who complete the course. Course Title Project Based Learning & Assessment Course Description Life is projects! Students can develop skills to learn, manage time, and collaborate through projects. Come learn how to help students own their learning, and how to prove learning occurred! Intended Audience This course is designed for professional and homeschool educators, pre-k through college. Course Format & Details *Blended in-person & online. This 15 hour experience was three parts: A 6-hour opening workshop @ Gizmo, a 5-hour application & reflection experience where participants applied their knowledge in their contexts, and a 4-hour closing workshop @ Gizmo. Credit/Clock Hours Participants can earn a PD Credit from the University of Idaho for an additional $60. Registration *This course is being redesigned in an online-only format. We intend to run this course again in the summer/fall of 2020. |
