Gizmo Teacher Residency Program
Gizmo offers its competitive Maker in Residence program to artists, designers and entrepreneurs to help advance and realize innovative new ideas.
Makers in Residence receive a space to store things, stipend and access to Gizmo’s 11,000 square foot co-working / fabrication space on the North Idaho College campus. Gizmo awards (2) three month residencies in a year

Application and Selection:

- Teacher in Residence receive 3 months free membership valued at $110/month. Teachers in Residence receive a $200 stipend to use towards classes at Gizmo and/or materials.
- Following the appropriate safety training, Teacher in Residence have access to fully equipt metal, wood, creative arts, micro-electronics, computer lab, laser cutter and rapid-prototyping facilities.
- Teacher in Residence have access to the member community and our Innovative Educator Mentor
Expectations of Makers in Residence:
- Teacher in Residence are expected to document their project with photos and video throughout the 3 months and do share their projects with the Innovative Educators
- Teacher in Residence are expected to take the appropriate training that they need for the tools that they want to use
- Teacher in Residence are expected to use their stipends for educational opportunities at Gizmo and/or materials. Receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.
- Teacher in Residence are expected to work independently.
- Teacher in Residence are expected to work onsite as much as possible to realize their project and to help build community at Gizmo.
Application and Selection:
- The application requests potential Teachers in Residence to supply; contact information, a project proposal (500 word maximum), and a C.V .
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed bimonthly.
- Applications from outside the Gizmo community are highly encouraged.
- Proposals are evaluated for their innovation, their use of Gizmo resources, their feasibility, and their potential for positive impact.
